Ordinarily, Rothschild money manager George Soros can be counted on to abort the young, but when it comes to the devil's infant, he gives it life! Brian Swint of Bloomberg News, May 7, 2007: Billionaire Plans Europe Version of Council on Foreign Relations Billionaire investor George Soros plans to start a foreign-affairs research institute in Europe similar to the Council on Foreign Relations:

"Europe has to be interested in recreating what used to be called the West, based on the principles of international cooperation," Mr. Soros said yesterday at a conference in Oxford, England. "Out of this idea came the idea of founding a European Council on Foreign Relations." Mr. Soros, who spent $27.5 million trying to defeat President Bush in the 2004 election, said America can't deal with global affairs on its own. If a leading Democratic presidential candidate, Senator Obama, wins the post in 2008, the U.S. may regain some of "the high ground," he said. Mr. Soros declined to say how much money he is spending on the project. It may start by the end of this year, he said. "Our resources are similar to the United States, but we punch pathetically below our weight," Timothy Garton Ash, a professor of European Studies at Oxford University who is helping Mr. Soros with the plans, said in an interview. "The idea is to contribute a European voice. It's still in the making."

Okay then Europe here you go. Start boning up on your own country's subversive representatives to the ECFR. Be alert to elements that weaken your sovereignties taking shape on your doorsteps. Of course, all reps, board members and staff are exclusively pro-Eurozone and its monetary unit. As in North America,  personal welfare, political careers and prestige come first. An open free market competitive culture certainly can't match what these immoral souls can steal from the people. These are the chief worshipers of the root of all evil, of all time.

With North America eventually coming under control, the Amero/NAU will amalgamate with Euro/EU becoming nearly the final step in the establishment of a one-world government under their control.

Grandmaster Putin’s Trap

Accusations of the West towards Putin are traditionally based on the fact that he worked in the KGB. And therefore he is a cruel and immoral person. Putin is blamed for everything. But nobody ever accused Putin of the lack of intelligence.

Any accusations against this man only emphasize his ability for quick analytical thinking and making clear and balanced political and economic decisions.

Often Western media compares this ability with the ability of a grandmaster, conducting a public chess simul. Recent developments in US economy and the West in general allow us to conclude that in this part of the assessment of Putin’s personality Western media are absolutely right.

Despite numerous success reports in the style of Fox News and CNN, today, Western economy, led by the United States is in Putin’s trap, the way out of which no one in the West can see or find. And the more the West is trying to escape from this trap, the more stuck it becomes.

What is the truly tragic predicament of the West and the United States, in which they find themselves? And why all the Western media and leading Western economists are silent about this, as a well guarded military secret? Let’s try to understand the essence of current economic events, in the context of the economy, setting aside the factors of morality, ethics and geopolitics.

Development of crude oil prices.

After realizing its failure in Ukraine, the West, led by the US set out to destroy Russian economy by lowering oil prices, and accordingly gas prices as the main budget sources of export revenue in Russia and the main sources of replenishment of Russian gold reserves. It should be noted that the main failure of the West in Ukraine is not military or political. But in the actual refusal of Putin to fund the Western project of Ukraine at the expense of the budget of Russian Federation. What makes this Western project not viable in the near and inevitable future.

Last time under president Reagan, such actions of the West’s lowering of oil prices led to ‘success’ and the collapse of USSR. But history does not repeat itself all the time. This time things are different for the West. Putin’s response to the West resembles both chess and judo, when the strength used by the enemy is used against him, but with minimal costs to the strength and resources of the defender. Putin’s real policies are not public. 

Therefore, Putin’s policy largely has always focused not so much on effect, but on efficiency.
Very few people understand what Putin is doing at the moment. And almost no one understands what he will do in the future.

No matter how strange it may seem, but right now, Putin is selling Russian oil and gas only for physical gold.

Putin is not shouting about it all over the world. And of course, he still accepts US dollars as an intermediate means of payment. But he immediately exchanges all these dollars obtained from the sale of oil and gas for physical gold!

To understand this, it is enough to look at the dynamics of growth of gold reserves of Russia and to compare this data with foreign exchange earnings of the Russia coming from the sale of oil and gas over the same period.

Moreover, in the third quarter the purchases by Russia of physical gold are at all-time high record levels. In the third quarter of this year, Russia had purchased an incredible amount of gold in the amount of 55 tons. It’s more than all the central banks of all countries of the world combined (according to official data)!

In total, the central banks of all countries of the world have purchased 93 tons of the precious metal in the third quarter of 2014. It was the 15th consecutive quarter of net purchases of gold by Central banks. Of the 93 tonnes of gold purchases by central banks around the world during this period, the staggering volume of purchases – of 55 tons – belongs to Russia.

Not so long ago, British scientists have successfully come to the same conclusion, as was published in the Conclusion of the U.S. Geological survey a few years ago. Namely: Europe will not be able to survive without energy supply from Russia. Translated from English to any other language in the world it means: “The world will not be able to survive if oil and gas from Russia is subtracted from the global balance of energy supply”.

Horrific crimes committed by Ukrainian army in Donbass: prohibited arms use and organ trafficking

Numerous reports on systematic destruction of populated areas in the Donbass and Luhansk regions by Ukrainian military have been becoming public domain. The evidence has been plentiful: photos, videos, international observers and journalists’ reports. Neither the United States nor Europe have paid attention on the information as they considered it to be part of the «Kremlin’s propaganda». Western media outlets have painted the use of internationally banned arms and warfare tactics as legal means of waging war against terror. Now the OSCE has to recognize the fact that the crimes have been committed by Ukrainian military and soldiers of chasteners’ battalions, for instance the use of prohibited weapons, the elimination of civilians and torture of prisoners. According to the report by Amnesty International, the servicemen of Aidar battalion practiced kidnapping and tortures of civilians. Some time ago international observers discovered mass graves of tortured people.

Those who live in Donbass have many times reported «mysterious graves» findings. Two movable crematoriums have been bought in Germany to get rid of the bodies. The burnt soldiers were reported to be missing in action. Many corpses have been burnt without registration and leaving any trace whatsoever. On September 23, 332 Ukrainian military were put into grave near Dnepropetrovsk without making precise the names of the perished. Only 22 names were known. On September 22, in Zaporozhye 55 unrecognized corpses of Ukrainian soldiers were buried. In Dnepropetrovsk 11 more unrecognized servicemen, who had lost their lives in Ilovaisk, were put into grave.

The atrocities committed by Neo-Nazi militants need to be described more in detail. Alexander from Donetsk has spent a few weeks in prison:

They beat him up the first two days without asking questions. Then they used force during interrogations passing him from one organization to another. He did not know anything to share and finally ended up in the hands of the Ukraine’s Security Service. They put a sack on my head and started kicking me. But I was happy to be a prisoner of the Ukrainian Security Service as I knew they would not kill me while interrogating.

The OSCE observers discovered the mass grave near the 22-th Kommunarka mine in Nizhnyaya Krynka. Presumably, civilians were shot by the soldiers of the battalion Aidar. The victims were treated inhumanely, many bodies had hands tied behind his back, and they were shot in the back of the head at close range. One body belonged to a pregnant woman, another female corpse was decapitated. The traces of torture are clearly visible, murder scheme is the same: hands tied behind, shot in the head. Self-defense militia forces managed to find four burial locals and six graves Ukrainian soldiers. Mass graves near Telmanovo, Yenakievo, Starobeshevo and other settlements, many more. Some graves were well hidden, some mined, as well as burial in Lower Jug. In general, the pattern is similar everywhere: signs of decapitated bodies, through bullet wounds, severed limbs.

Reports came from Ukrainian military hospitals that in some cases human organs were extracted and exported to the United States and Europe to be used for transplant… As Carla del Ponte, former Chief Prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Court, remembered in her book The Hunt: Me and the War Criminals, Albanian Kosovars did the same thing.

The evidence is plentiful – Ukraine has become a safe haven for human organs traffickers. Ukrainian doctors say there are foreigners working in the national hospitals and they discuss on the phone which human organs of wounded soldiers could be sold and used for transplant. Ukrainian hackers broke and circulated the correspondence between former lawyer of Yulia Timoshenko Sergey Vlasenko and German doctor Olga Weber. The main suppliers of the goods were referred to as the commanders of the National Guard. 

Allegedly donated organs are taken under the order of Western buyers. It’s not the only instance. In the first days of Maidan protests the Neo-Nazi from Svoboda political party headed by Oleh Tyahnybok seized the crematorium at Baykov Cemetery in Kiev. 

There were some doctors among them Tyahnybok had worked with before they were reported to be involved in human trafficking schemes. After that a number of mysterious disappearances of people occurred in Kiev.

The last prisoners’ exchanges between Novorossia self-defense units and Ukrainian military revealed the cases of fraud. The military tried to present local peasants as prisoners of war. It will take time to identify those were taken prisoner holding weapons in their hands – were they shot, dead as a result of torture or sold for organs? 

Europe can help by putting an end to the support it provides for military criminals in Kiev and the Neo-Nazi on their service.

Police Investigating Alleged Vote Fraud In Glasgow

Officials in Glasgow are investigating ten suspected cases of electoral fraud following the historic Scottish independence referendum on Thursday.

Colin Edgar of the Glasgow city council said that police were called in after ten occurrences of alleged fraud took place.

“We’ve had a number of suggestions over the course of the day that people have turned up at the polling station to vote and they appear to have voted already,” said Edgar. “So what’s happening tonight is we know which boxes those votes went into and we know the numbers on the votes, so the police have asked us to identify those votes, to take them away, keep them for evidence and hand them to them.”

Edgar said that fraud could have taken place because voters are not required to present identification at polling places in UK elections.

 “Somebody turned up to vote, they gave their name, the presiding officer went to cross off their name on their list of voters to give them a ballot paper and found that their name had already been crossed off and a ballot paper already issued to somebody who apparently had the same name,” Edgar said.

“We contacted police straight away. The police asked us if we could recover the ballot papers, which we can because we know which box they’re in and we know the number on the ballot paper.”

Edgar stated that the ballots will be traced and secured before handing them to police. Each ballot contains an individual number, so staff members will be searching through the ballots to find the ten in question. If found, they will be separated from the hundreds of thousands of other ballots.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said the agency “takes the safety and security of the independence referendum extremely seriously and is working with partner agencies including local authorities and the chief counting officer to ensure the integrity of the ballot”.

Petrodollar Panic: EU Officials Admit Buying Oil From ISIS

We recently explained how ISIS remains so well funded but what was unclear was who exactly what purchasing their 'recently-provisioned' oil reserves? The assumption being some desperate third-world nation or some scheming offshore hedge-fund arbitrageur; however, as Sott.net reports, a senior European Union official has revealed that some EU member states have purchased oil from ISIL Takfiri militants despite their rhetoric against the group. The official declined to disclose any names but Turkey remains a front-runner (having already shunned President Obama) and potentially France (after their recent anti-Petrodollar comments).

As The Daily Signal's Kelsey Harkness ( @kelseyjharkness ) notes,

According to the Iraq Energy Institute, an independent, nonprofit policy organization focused on Iraq’s energy sector, the army of radical Islamists controls production of 30,000 barrels of oil a day in Iraq and 50,000 barrels in Syria.

A senior European Union official has revealed that some EU member states have purchased oil from ISIL Takfiri militants despite their rhetoric against the group.

In a briefing to the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee, EU Ambassador to Iraq Jana Hybas-kova said some European countries have purchased crude from the ISIL.

She, however, refused to disclose any names despite pressure by some Parliament members to do so.

The EU official also warned against any support by the West for separatist Kurdish groups who, she said, would destabilize the Middle East.

Earlier reports accused Turkey of buying and transporting oil from both the ISIL and Qaeda-linked Nusra Front. According to the reports, Western intelligence agencies could track ISIL oil shipments as they moved across Iraq and Turkey.

ISIL reportedly controls eleven oil fields in northern Iraq as well as Syria's Raqqa province.

US intelligence officials estimate that the Takfiri militants earn more than USD 3 million a day from oil profit, theft, human trafficking and ransom. They say the militants sell oil and other products via established networks in Turkey, Jordan and Iraq's Kurdistan region. ?Turkey has denied reports of involvement in ISIL's oil smuggling operations.

Daily Bell: Hi, Jay. Thanks for sitting down with us again. What's new with you? Any publications or conferences you want to mention or special appearances? What are you focusing on in your radio show lately?

Jay Taylor: I am now more focused on the gold and silver mining sector than I have been in a long time because I believe this is the most exciting time to pick up junior gold and silver mining stocks that I have seen since I began covering this sector back in 1981. 

The perfect storm for gold is very near, as many decades of lethal socialist economics is destroying capital and capitalism. When the fragility of the global monetary system is recognized by all, value will rapidly flee fiat currencies and return to gold. Thus, the holders of gold will hold true capital in the form of honest money, namely gold and to a lesser extent, silver. We are in a process of massive deleveraging of the financial system and historically, we know from over the past 300 years that when that takes place, the real value of gold rises dramatically and with that the gold mining industry enters a prolonged gold bull market. We are nearing the final leg up in the gold bull market, which I believe will take place over the next five years. With that, I believe fortunes will be made by those invested in gold and silver mining shares.

So given this view, I am staying focused on the gold and silver mining sector and I'm also using my web-based radio show, "Turning Hard Times into Good Times," to try to help as many people as possible learn about what the real reasons for our economic malaise is and what is actually true about American foreign policy. Both economic and foreign policy are so afflicted by an Orwellian fog that most American voters at best have the IQ of a moron when it comes to understanding the important issues – which is by the design of our establishment. So with the help of countless fabulous guests the message is getting across not only in America but around the world. As far as appearances are concerned, most of the venues where I had been speaking have either shut down or have cut back so my traveling and public speaking has been significantly reduced. The reason the venues have shut down is that the gold mining industry has been in a depression starting mid-2011 so junior mining companies do not have funding available for the various mining show conferences. I take that as one sign that the bottom is all but in for the junior gold and silver mining sector.

Daily Bell: Okay, some nuts and bolts. Is there more deflation in store for the US? Have the imbalances been wrung out?

Jay Taylor: What we have had is a massive inflation of what I call "debt money" because actually, debt is the raw material from which fiat money is manufactured. You can see from this Debt/GDP chart below that there has been a very modest reversal of total debt (public and private) to GDP in the U.S. post-Lehman Brothers, but it still remains north of 340%. That is far greater than the previous extreme during 1932 of 295% and hugely out of line with a range from 1870 to the mid-1980s of between 120% and 180%. If this isn't a picture of growing insolvency, I don't know what is.

The problem is that we have all been brought up on the Keynesian lie that all we need for progress is excessive spending and "animal spirits." No need to save or delay any consumption your little heart desires. No need to worry about balance sheets. Just spend, spend, spend even if it means debt is growing exponentially while income is stagnant or declining. I guess we have come to this point because somehow humankind loves the big lie. I guess many people simply command themselves to ignore reality and believe in fairytales. 

Believing in Keynesian economics is akin to believing in the tooth fairy.

Daily Bell: You once told us the West is on a steep and slippery slope. Now mainstream economists speak of a recovery. Were you wrong?

Jay Taylor: Yes, they speak of a recovery just like they think animal spirits and excess spending funding by excessive printing press money is all you need for prosperity. Unfortunately, nothing was learned from the 2008-09 experience. No, the West continues on a steep and slippery slope. Some, like Robert Prechter, think we are approaching another Dark Age. We can only hope and pray he is wrong but I fear he may be right.

Daily Bell: Is reflation working? Is the Fed going to tighten? Is QE really over?

Jay Taylor: Reflation is working only to the extent it is holding back powerful forces of deflation caused by the creation of debt money. The system if left alone would implode into a deflationary insolvency the likes of which the world has never seen before. The Fed is fighting against that powerful force by creating more money but the problem is that what we have is not simply printing press money, but money that is manufactured by debt, and debt is growing much more rapidly than the income they hope to create by printing more money.

Daily Bell: Are we still headed away from a democratic environment, as you have indicated in the past, especially in the US?

Jay Taylor: No question about it. You and many people who read this excellent format may not agree, but I think we are losing our liberties because our statist educational system, in a very self-serving way, has eliminated from the minds and hearts of Westerners the notion of a Creator or Supreme Being. If the universe was not designed with a purpose and self-sustaining balance by an intelligent designer then we turn to Caesar, Bush, Obama, Putin or Stalin for answers to life's burdens. Creating the myth of evolution across speciation is a very clever but total falsehood that has convinced most Americans, especially those with higher degrees, that there was no intelligent designer and that there is nothing higher than man in charge of our fate. That was a very clever design of our statist politicians.

"Trust in me," Obama says, and so the people willingly give up a voice in government. Americans don't even seem to care that everything they say and do now is recorded by our government and can be used against us if we disagree with policy. The misplaced logic seems to be, "I'm not a terrorist so I have nothing to worry about." Trouble is, by assuming humans possess attributes like omniscience and omnipotence, you pave the way for dictators. Of course, we now know that Big Brother's cousin, NSA, has one godly attribute, namely omnipresence. So he knows what you are thinking and doing, and depending on the definition of a "terrorist" you may just be one by virtue of opposing your government's policies.

Daily Bell: Give us an update on the euro. Is the EU going to split up or has the crisis been weathered?

Jay Taylor: It's all about how much longer the existing ruling elite can hold the existing global monetary system together. Of course, all the currencies these days are counterfeit but as long as the U.S. military remains supreme, I suspect the dollar will be the last one to go. However, as the parasites that run American continue to consume all the remaining capital, I think the Anglo-American Empire is now approaching desperation, which is why all manner of false flags are being used to con Americans and Europeans to beat the hell out of any country that doesn't want to use the dollar. 

At some point there will be a tipping point. I thought the Ukrainian conflict might pull Europe away from the U.S. but then, just like a false flag last year in Syria, I suspect we just witnessed another in the Ukraine with the downed Malaysian airliner. Only NATO and the puppet government established in Ukraine by the U.S. intelligence operation stood to benefit from such a tragedy. 

Whether we witnessed a false flag or not, the outcome was the same.

But as the global economy continues to contract we will see how long the geopolitical winds favor the U.S. and NATO. Indeed, Mario Draghi just noted that sanctions against the Ukraine are helping to push Europe into a recession. At some point, it's hard to see how the financially and morally bankrupt Western world won't implode or explode with nations seeking to look out for their own interests in defiance of the move toward a one-world government. 

But until that day arrives, I think the dollar remains the strongest currency and the linchpin and support of the Euro.

But as economic problems become more acute in Europe, we may very well see the Eurozone yet pull apart. Or perhaps the Fed will continue printing money to fund Europe, as it did in the recent past. 

That way, Europe will continue to be indebted to the U.S. What better way for the Anglo-American empire to lord it over Europe? 

The cracks are there to drive the Eurozone apart and to drive Europe from the U.S. But it's impossible to say when a tectonic shift will occur or what will be the catalyst that results in more decentralization around the globe. The powers that be are leaning hard against it because they are parasitically feeding off of what is left of the middle classes.

US Sanctions on Russia May Sink the Dollar: The Ron Paul Institute

The US government's decision to apply more sanctions on Russia is a grave mistake and will only escalate an already tense situation, ultimately harming the US economy itself. While the effect of sanctions on the dollar may not be appreciated in the short term, in the long run these sanctions are just another step toward the dollar's eventual demise as the world's reserve currency.

Not only is the US sanctioning Russian banks and companies, but it also is trying to strong-arm European banks into enacting harsh sanctions against Russia as well. Given the amount of business that European banks do with Russia, European sanctions could hurt Europe at least as much as Russia. At the same time the US expects cooperation from European banks, it is also prosecuting those same banks and fining them billions of dollars for violating existing US sanctions. It is not difficult to imagine that European banks will increasingly become fed up with having to act as the US government's unpaid policemen, while having to pay billions of dollars in fines every time they engage in business that Washington doesn't like.

European banks are already cutting ties with American citizens and businesses due to the stringent compliance required by recently-passed laws such as FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act). In the IRS's quest to suck in as much tax dollars as possible from around the world, the agency has made Americans into the pariahs of the international financial system. As the burdens the US government places on European banks grow heavier, it should be expected that more and more European banks will reduce their exposure to the United States and to the dollar, eventually leaving the US isolated. Attempting to isolate Russia, the US actually isolates itself.

Another effect of sanctions is that Russia will grow closer to its BRICS (Brazil/Russia/India/China/South Africa) allies. These countries count over 40 percent of the world's population, have a combined economic output almost equal to the US and EU, and have significant natural resources at their disposal. Russia is one of the world's largest oil producers and supplies Europe with a large percent of its natural gas. Brazil has the second-largest industrial The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : sector in the Americas and is the world's largest exporter of ethanol. China is rich in mineral resources and is the world's largest food producer. Already Russia and China are signing agreements to conduct their bilateral trade with their own national currencies rather than with the dollar, a trend which, if it spreads, will continue to erode the dollar's position in international trade. Perhaps more importantly, China, Russia, and South Africa together produce nearly 40 percent of the world's gold, which could play a role if the BRICS countries decide to establish a gold-backed currency to challenge the dollar.

US policymakers fail to realize that the United States is not the global hegemon it was after World War II. They fail to understand that their overbearing actions toward other countries, even those considered friends, have severely eroded any good will that might previously have existed. And they fail to appreciate that more than 70 years of devaluing the dollar has put the rest of the world on edge. There is a reason the euro was created, a reason that China is moving to internationalize its currency, and a reason that other countries around the world seek to negotiate monetary and trade compacts. The rest of the world is tired of subsidizing the United States government's enormous debts, and tired of producing and exporting trillions of dollars of goods to the US, only to receive increasingly worthless dollars in return.

The US government has always relied on the cooperation of other countries to maintain the dollar's preeminent position. But international patience is wearing thin, especially as the carrot-and-stick approach of recent decades has become all stick and no carrot. If President Obama and his successors continue with their heavy-handed approach of levying sanctions against every country that does something US policymakers don't like, it will only lead to more countries shunning the dollar and accelerating the dollar's slide into irrelevance.

MH17 Verdict: Real Evidence Points to US-Kiev Cover-up of Failed False Flag

In this report, we will lay out the facts based on a wide breadth of available information and data surrounding MH17. We will also present and give critique to Washington and Kiev's "mountain of evidence" that has saturated US and European-based media coverage since the incident took place. 21WIRE has compiled this report with the help of many contributors and references from English-speaking media, as well as material translated from Russian and Ukrainian media sources, along with other historical references to provide context. Our objective is to get as close to the truth as possible. Although many revelations will appear to be self-evident, we still encourage the public to draw their own conclusions regarding this pivotal event.

There are other well-known anomalies surrounding this event which have been covered at 21WIRE, as well as connections to MH370, but for the purposes of this investigation we will focus on both factual and speculative evidence brought forth by the US, Ukraine and Russia.

As we will clearly demonstrate, the only wild conspiracy theories being pushed right now, are those coming out of the US State Department, and the government in Kiev, Ukraine, which are being repeated by CNN, BBC, FOX-NewsCorp, ABC, CBS and NBC…

The Brink of War


Last Monday morning was not a pleasant one for the US State Department. Russian officials surprised Washington and its NATO partners when it released all available satellite imagery and air traffic control data which was recorded in and around the final minutes of Flight MH17 – and presented it to the world media on live television. The data painted a very different picture, drawing contrasting conclusions to what Washington and Kiev officials had been disseminating via western media since July 17th. Following their presentation, Moscow handed its findings – air traffic data and time stamped satellite imagery – to European authorities. We will review those findings in detail later in this report. In stark contrast, US officials have been reluctant to do the same. Is Washington willing to share any object data or evidence to the public, or is it only interested in sharing that which somehow fits into the same predetermined narrative it stood by on July 17th, one which already assigned guilt to both rebel fighters in eastern Ukraine and Russia?

We hope that political leaders and media organizations in the US and Europe will take the time to consider all available information, rather than simply repeat and spin what is bouncing around the media echo chamber. It's also crucial to understand the geopolitical context in which this incident has occurred in order to discover who really possessed the motive, and the means to destroy this passenger aircraft, and which parties stand to benefit most from such an international incident.

After reviewing the evidence, all indicators points to the downing of MH17 as a highly coordinated, but failed false flag event.
 
MH17: A Doomed Flight Path
 
A Malaysian Airlines spokesman has already confirmed that, for some unknown reason, Kiev-based Ukrainian Air Traffic Control (ATC) ordered MH17 off of its original flight path along the international air route, known as L980.

Most likely, this order was given to pilots while MH17 was still in Polish air space. L980 is one of the most popular and most congested air routes in the world, as well as a key link between major international hubs in Europe, like London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Frankfurt, and Asian destinations, like Singapore, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. 


As MH17 moved into Ukrainian air space, it was moved by ATC Kiev approximately 200 miles north – putting it on a new course, heading directly into a war zone, a well-known dangerous area by now – one that's hosted a number of downed military craft over the previous 3 weeks.

Robert Mark, a commercial pilot and editor of Aviation International News Safety magazine, confirmed that most Malaysia Airlines flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur would normally travel along a route significantly further south than the route MH17 was diverted onto. Data on all airline flight records can be found here.

The BBC reported on July 17th: "Ukraine's SBU security service has confiscated recordings of conversations between Ukrainian air traffic control officers and the crew of the doomed airliner, a source in Kiev has told Interfax news agency."

Independent investigators are worried that ATC audio records of the MH17 flight appear to have been confiscated by the Kiev government. No reason has been given for this loss of transparency, but not a word from Washington regarding this cover-up of crucial evidence.

Did this order to change the flight path come from the Ukrainian authorities? Was the pilot instructed to change course? To be sure, the order to change the flight path did not come from Eurocontrol, but rather from ATC in Kiev.

Do you remember the serfs and servants and villeins and peasants in the good old times of feudalism and the Middle Ages? If you don't, I have good news for you! The custom of working in return of goods instead of salary revives in Greece of modern European Union and of exquisite Euro area. The results of a survey conducted by the Labor Institute of the Confederation of Labor Union (GSEE) are shocking but not unexpected. KTG has often reported in the four years of blogging about these sweet little working and payment conditions of modern Greek slaves living under the feudal law of austerity, recession and  competitiveness.

Laborers receive salary with delays of 3 to 12 months.

Laborers receive 1/3 of their salary, the rest is being paying through services like sleeping in a hotel free of charge, free food and coupons for purchases of food and other goods from supermarkets.

All above cases refer to full time job of 8 hours per day for 25-30 days per month.

Employers who cannot pay salaries give:

1. free sleep in hotels, free food

2. pay salaries with at least 3 months delay and not on monthly basis.

3. they do not pay full 13th and 14th salary (for Christmas/Easter and vacation) as obliged by the Labor Law.  They give food items and fuel coupons, instead, and force employees to sign that they have received the full bonus. GSEE estimates that one million employees have not received neither the 13th nor the 14th salary.

Young employees below 25 years old get hired with monthly contracts for part-time work of 4 hours per day and for salary of €180 per month. By 25 working days per month this could be translated into a wage of €7.2 per day! – It makes no sense here to try to identify the wage per hour…. it could be some €1.72 per hour! I remember when the first labor 'reform' drastically cut wages in 2011, my readers could not believe that the per-hour wage was 3 euro!

According to Labor Law, minimum wage for those below 25 years old is €480 gross for full-time work. But who cares about the laws when jobs demand is high, unemployment is dancing and cash is short because the banks have been saved but they pour not a recapitalization cent into the market.

According to Labor Hiring  statistics for January-April 2014:

From 423,174 job vacancies,

232,383 were for full time job

140,527 were part-time jobs

50,264 were rotation jobs. (sources: zougla.gr, newsit.gr)

I suppose, Greek laborers will be soon allowed to pay their rent and utility bills with "food stamps" and "detergent coupons."

It's odd that while in 2011 ans 2012 Greeks made a step backwards to Dickens' times, in 2013 and 2014 had a big jump back to Middle Ages.

PS I can well imagine that in a couple of years, the Troika will complain about the shortage of labor craft and empty social insurance funds in competitive Greece.

Members of Germany’s parliament are still smarting over last year’s revelations that the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) spied on German citizens—including the phone calls of Chancellor Angela Merkel. The German leader, once publicly upset herself over the news, has chosen to mend ties with Washington, which would explain a confrontation between Merkel and lawmakers.

Members of parliament intent on learning more about the NSA surveillance have said they want whistleblower Edward Snowden, whose leaks exposed the spying on Germany and other U.S. allies, to testify before a special committee investigating the issue. Merkel’s government, however, is aghast at the idea of Snowden’s testimony, fearing it would only stir more trouble for the German-American alliance.

Officials have expressed their displeasure to the lawmakers, who refused to back down on their request to have Snowden appear before the committee—either in person or  perhaps by videoconferencing, as he exiled himself to Russia and risks being arrested if he steps foot in any U.S. allied nation.

Merkel’s government upped the stakes in the standoff and hired a Washington-based law firm to threaten lawmakers if they take Snowden’s testimony.

A letter from attorney Jeffrey Harris of Rubin, Winston, Diercks, Harris & Cooke warned: “We are of the opinion that if Snowden provides classified information or documents to the Bundestag or to German diplomats who interview Snowden, such acts give rise to criminal exposure under the laws of the United States. The United States would have jurisdiction to prosecute these acts regardless of where they occur. The fact that German legislators have immunity under German laws would not shield them from prosecution in the United States.”

Techdirt opined that the threat probably won’t sit well with German lawmakers:

“This should be deeply offensive to pretty much everyone in the German government—even if the letter was apparently commissioned by the German government. The idea that they might face criminal prosecution for the simple act of investigating how the U.S. spied on the German government is insulting in the extreme.”

Snowden’s American lawyer Ben Wizner told Der Spiegel that such a conclusion—that U.S. officials might try to hold German politicians criminally liable—is “beyond absurd.” In addition, he said, Snowden “didn't offer to reveal as a witness new surveillance activities that have not been disclosed yet by journalists.”
