"SILVER THREADS AMONG THE GOLD" - 1873 - Tom Roush

Arranged with the 'whine' of a steel guitar, this timeless tune would be the perfect 'country' song of today if only it mentioned a bar room or a bed room. This ballad was very popular from the 1870's through WW1. It is a pure love song. Strangely enough, this song was written during what many American music historians called the 'dead zone' of American music history. This 'zone' dated from 1865 through 1900. These historians claim that very few original songs of quality were produced in that time period.
