A trove of emails released two years ago show that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had access to intelligence from a private spy network run by an old confidant.

In 2012, the email account of Sidney Blumenthal, a long-time associate of Bill and Hillary Clinton, was accessed by Romanian hacker Marcel-Lehel Lazar, who went by the name Guccifer. 

Blumenthal’s emails, which were posted on the internet, showed he’d had correspondence with Hillary Clinton via her private email account. They revealed that Blumenthal was providing back-channel intelligence to Clinton about Libya’s civil war in the run-up to the Benghazi disaster, according to a report from ProPublica and Gawker.

One of the emails pointed out the deteriorating security situation right before the Benghazi consulate was stormed, citing “an extremely sensitive source” who pointed out the numerous bombings and kidnapping of aid workers and diplomats by those thought to be loyal to the late Libyan Prime Minister Muammar Gaddafi, ProPublica reported. Despite the information gathered by Clinton’s network, she said after the Benghazi attacks of September 2012 that U.S. intelligence officials had had no advance warning of the threat.

The reports Blumenthal sent to Clinton appear to have been compiled by Tyler Drumheller, a former chief of the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) clandestine service in Europe. Drumheller left the CIA in 2005 and started his own security business.

In addition to Libya, the memos deal with subjects ranging from German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s discussions with her finance minister to the make-up of the South Korean cabinet.

But much of the attention was focused on Libya. There’s even one email exchange suggesting that four people be sent to neighboring Tunisia to aid the Libyan opposition. “Sid, you are doing great work on this,” Drumheller wrote to Blumenthal. “It is going to be around $60,000, coverting r/t business class airfare to Tunis, travel in country to the border and back, and other expenses for 7–10 days for 4 guys,” one email read.

A Clinton spokesman said all the Blumenthal emails in Clinton’s private email account have been turned over as part of the 30,000 pages of communications relayed to the State Department.

When Clinton was named secretary of state, she wanted Blumenthal to come work for her. But then White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is said to have vetoed that plan because of Blumenthal’s attacks on Obama during the 2008 presidential primary campaign.

Wars are never actually fought for the reasons sold to the masses:


Some believe it is about protecting civilians, others say it is about oil, but some are convinced intervention in Libya is all about Gaddafi’s plan to introduce the gold dinar, a single African currency made from gold, a true sharing of the wealth.

Gaddafi did not give up. In the months leading up to the military intervention, he called on African and Muslim nations to join together to create this new currency that would rival the dollar and euro. They would sell oil and other resources around the world only for gold dinars.

It is an idea that would shift the economic balance of the world. …
And it has happened before.

In 2000, Saddam Hussein announced Iraqi oil would be traded in euros, not dollars. Some say sanctions and an invasion followed because the Americans were desperate to prevent OPEC from transferring oil trading in all its member countries to the euro.

A gold dinar would have had serious consequences for the world financial system, but may also have empowered the people of Africa, something black activists say the US wants to avoid at all costs.

Embroiled in wars of aggression throughout the Middle East, it’s hard to imagine that anyone would accept the standard rhetoric about protecting human rights and promoting democracy as motivation for our latest war in Libya.  But judging by the absence of protest in the United States, and the sheer lack of meaningful coverage in the MSM, it would appear that most Americans have bought the fictional narrative.

The prospect of Gaddafi attempting to create an alternative, gold-backed currency would certainly have frightened Western powers, as the current system of profiteering is heavily based on the worthless dollar – a fiat currency.  It seems entirely plausible that the true motivation for the invasion of Libya may well have been this fear of an independent African currency.

We cannot say with any degree of certainty that this was, in fact, the main motivation for the invasion.  What we can say without question, however, is that the official line of promoting human rights and democracy is an absolute farce.  War is a business venture, and it is not undertaken without specific lucrative goals in mind.  Libya’s vast oil reserves undoubtedly played a role in the U.S. decision to invade, but oil in itself is unlikely to offer a strong enough incentive.  If that were the case, after all, why haven’t we attacked Venezuela?

In order for a military intervention to take place, there must be a veritable witches’ brew of temptations, which make the potential fruits of aggression so great that the corporate warlords simply cannot resist.  In Afghanistan we had the Trans-Afghanistan natural gas pipeline, the trillion-dollar mineral reserves, and the option of having a permanent U.S. presence is such a strategic geopolitical location.  In Iraq we had the world’s second largest proven oil reserves and the opportunity to cement U.S. hegemony in the Middle East with the construction of military bases on the scale of small cities.  And in Libya, of course, we have oil reserves, a strategic location and now, it seems, the grave necessity to crush a move towards African independence and the undermining of the dollar as a global benchmark currency.

Don’t buy the lies, folks.  U.S. military intervention is always about material and political gain, and never about ideals.

The real reason for Barack Hussein Obama attacking Libya has nothing to do with humanitarian reasons.  It has everything to do with a gold heist.  Barack Hussein Obama unlawfully sent U.S. forces to attack Libya to control the country’s vast oil (black gold) resources and its 144 tons of gold bullion.

Today the U.S., France, the UK, Canada and other NATO war criminals are pouring into Libya to steal the Libyan people’s gold.  U.S. and British troops are already on the ground (in violation of the UN Resolution 1973) to extract the gold bullion.  It is the stolen Libyan gold that Barack Obama is offering the European Union.  The bankrupt United States is offering to bailout the bankrupt European Union with stolen Libyan gold.  A thief is helping out another thief using stolen goods.  How humanitarian of Obama.

Libya’s true leader, Muammar Gaddafi was planning to introduce the Gold Dinar just before the United States and France launched their illegal war against Libya.  Gaddafi was also to demand gold in return for his people’s oil .  This was the second reason for the United States / NATO war against Libya.  The IMF, the WTO, the World Bank and their agents in the United States – the illegal Federal Reserve gangsters were threatened by the return to a honest currency – gold and silver backed.

Under the guise of “protecting civilians,” the United States led NATO into Libya and is now attempting to assassinate the Libyan leader.   Libya just so happens to be the largest oil producer in Africa.  Many do not realize that Gaddafi’s plan to introduce the gold dinar, a single African currency, would have served as an alternative to the worthless and impotent Federal Reserve Note and allow African nations to share the wealth. It is surely no coincidence that Iraq’s prior leader, Saddam Hussein, was trying to do the same thing just prior to the U.S. invasion for “weapons of mass destruction.”

30,000 troops from the 1st Calvary Division (heavy armor) and III Corps at Ft. Hood are being readied for deployment to Libya by October.   Months before Obama unilaterally ordered U.S. and NATO forces to attack Libya, hundreds of British, American and French Special Forces were already on the ground in Libya training and commanding the CIA / MOSSAD recruited foreign mercenary army.

Already the World Bank and the Federal Reserve shysters have offered to “help” Libya’s recovery by indebting Libya with crippling interest bearing loans that can never be paid back while swallowing up the real assets of Libya.

A burglary; to break and enter onto another’s premises, land or real property with the intent to there commit a crime, most typically theft.  Burglary is a felony offense.   Even if nothing is stolen in a burglary, the act is a statutory offense.  The court of public opinion finds Barack Hussein Obama, David Cameron, Nicolas Sarkozy and Stephen Harper guilty of the felony charge of burglary.  The court also finds Barack Hussein Obama, David Cameron, Nicolas Sarkozy and Stephen Harper guilty of the felony charge of first degree murder – willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing of thousands of Libyan civilians, police and politicians.

In November 2011, French Jewish “philosopher” and a close friend of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, Bernard-Henri Levy, admitted at the first conference of the French Jewish Lobby CRIF that Qaddafi had to be removed because he became a threat to Israel.

In July 2011, Saif al-Islam was quoted as saying: “It isn’t just Libya’s black gold (oil) that the West wants, but Libya’s “blue gold” – that Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System, the only fresh water source of its kind that remains in North Africa and the Middle East, a region now experiencing a permanent drought. As famine sets in (famine has already begun in East Africa) that Libyan aquifer will become as valuable as gold. Two French water firms, the largest in the world (Veolia and Suez S.A.) want to own that aquifer, since they will make countless billions in profit from food grown from the water. Many books have been written about the escalating global water wars. Every IMF or World Bank loan is issued on the condition that the victim nation sells its water supplies to private investors. The human race can survive without oil if necessary, but not without water.”

Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are arming and funding US-NATO’s former allies (Islamists) to establish their influence in the ‘future Libya’ while the Zionist-controlled vultures are watching the on-going bloodshed of Muslim people on the sideline.

A Capitol Hill veteran who was recently appointed as majority staff director for the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Philip Kiko, has lobbied on behalf of far-left groups heavily tied to and financed by George Soros.

A significant portion of the lobby activities focused on opposing Voter ID laws, which would have required voters to bring photo identification to the voting booths.

Kiko would not be the first Soros-tied investigator in a government probe of the Benghazi attack.

The State Department’s lead Benghazi investigator, Thomas Pickering, co-authored the Accountability Review Board, or ARB report, which critics say absolved Hillary Clinton of wrongdoing in the attacks.

KleinOnline was first to report Pickering is tied to Soros and to the revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa through his role as a member of the small board of the International Crisis Group, or ICG.

Kiko was appointed by House Benghazi committee chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., who has stated that politics should not play a role in the investigation.

Gowdy insists the probe will be fact-based and believes his choice of Kiko, who has “a proven record of effective leadership and management,” is in line with that aim.

“I am pleased to have him on our team as we conduct a serious, fact-driven investigation to ensure our fellow Americans know the full truth about what happened in Benghazi,” Gowdy said.

House Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, praised Gowdy’s selection of Kiko.

“Phil Kiko is a man of unquestioned integrity with a record of distinguished service to the House and the American people,” he said. 

“His appointment today is further proof of Chairman Gowdy’s commitment to an investigation that is serious, fact-based and professional.”

“The American people deserve the full truth about what happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, and there is no better person to help lead this effort than Phil,” Boehner said.

Amanda Duvall, a spokeswoman for Gowdy noted that Kiko worked for the Executive Branch under Presidents Reagan and George H. Bush. He was in the House for many years, including as Republican staff director and chief counsel for the House Judiciary Committee under former Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner, she said.

During Sensenbrenner’s tenure at Judiciary, 116 bills were passed, including a ban on partial birth abortion and the Visa and Border Security Act.

Duvall said Kiko “earned the respect of those he worked with on both sides of the aisle.”

“He has a solid track record and we have confidence in his ability to serve as staff director,” she said.

Blogosphere abuzz

The conservative blogosphere, nevertheless, has been abuzz about Kiko’s work as a registered lobbyist for two leftist groups, the American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU, and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, or LCCHR.

The LCCHR is a clearinghouse of 200 mostly leftist organizations, including Soros’ own Open Society Policy Center and scores of Soros-financed groups.

Between 2005 and 2009, LCCHR itself received $3,755,900 in grants from Soros.

The LCCHR’s Education Fund board of directors includes White House counselor John Podesta, who founded the Soros-financed Center for American Progress, which is described as the “idea factory” of the progressive left.

Lobbyist registration documentation shows that in June 2013, Kiko registered as the ACLU’s lobbyist via his position with the Smith-Free Group lobby firm.

As of October 2011, the ACLU ranked fourth among Soros-funded grantees, according to the Sorosfiles.com watchdog website.

A litany of member groups of Kiko’s other client, LCCHR, have received funding from Soros’ Open Society Foundation, including the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, American Friends Service Committee, Amnesty International, Brennan Center for Social Justice, Center for Community Change, Common Cause and DEMOS, which employs Van Jones, President Obama’s controversial former “green” jobs czar.

Other Soros-funded LCCHR member groups include the Feminist Majority, Human Rights Campaign, LatinoJustice PRLDEF, Lawyers’ Committee for Legal Rights Under the Law, MALDEF, National Council of La Raza, National Immigration Forum, National Immigration Law Center, National Lawyers Guild, National Organization for Women, National Partnership for Women and Families, National Women’s Law Center, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood, Project Vote, Sierra Club and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

A sampling of LCCHR members reads like a who’s who of the radical left, including Americans for Democratic Action, a counterpart to the Democratic Socialists of America; the Soros-funded United States Student Association; and the Soros-financed Lambda Legal Fund.

LCCHR member Center for Social Inclusion was founded in 2002 by Maya Wiley, daughter of ACORN founder George Wiley. The group was founded with $75,000 in seed money from Soros’s Open Society. 

Wiley later became chairman of board of the Soros-financed Tides Network.

Voter ID

Working as a lobbyist, Kiko has been deeply involved in activism on so-called voting-rights issues. Numerous lobbying reports show Kiko held Capitol Hill meetings on behalf of the ACLU last year on discussions pushing renewed Voting Rights Act legislation.

Led by Attorney General Eric Holder, the legislation was a drive to require certain states and local governments to obtain federal preclearance before implementing any changes to their voting laws or practices. Holder was taking particular aim at the proposed Texas voter ID law, which would have required voters to show photo identification.

A closer look at LCCHR finds numerous members leading the drive to amend voting laws, including Project Vote, the League of Women Voters and the Soros-funded Voter Participation Center, formerly known as Women’s Voices Women Vote.

Soros and Benghazi probe

Kiko is not alone in his Soros ties among the investigators of the Benghazi attack.

KleinOnine reported Pickering, the State Department’s lead investigator, is tied to Soros and to the revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa through his role as a member of the small board of the International Crisis Group, or ICG, one of the main proponents of the international “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine.

The doctrine is the military protocol that was used to justify the NATO bombing campaign that brought down Moammar Gadhafi’s regime in Libya.

Gareth Evans, president emeritus of the ICG, is the founder and co-author of the doctrine.

Soros is on the ICG’s executive board. Soros’ Open Society Institute is also one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, the group that devised the doctrine.

The ICG itself has long petitioned for talks with Hamas as well as normalized relations with the Muslim Brotherhood. For years, it urged the Egyptian government to allow the Brotherhood to establish an Islamist political party, as KleinOnline previously reported.

Responsibility to Protect, or Responsibility to Act, as cited by Obama, is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege but a responsibility that can be revoked if a country is accused of “war crimes,” “genocide,” “crimes against humanity” or “ethnic cleansing.”

The term “war crimes” has at times been indiscriminately used by various U.N.-backed international bodies, including the International Criminal Court, or ICC, which applied it to Israeli anti-terror operations in the Gaza Strip. There has been fear the ICC could be used to prosecute U.S. troops.

Right to ‘penetrate nation-states’ borders’

Soros himself outlined the fundamentals of Responsibility to Protect in a 2004 Foreign Policy magazine article titled “The People’s Sovereignty: How a New Twist on an Old Idea Can Protect the World’s Most Vulnerable Populations.”

In the article, Soros said “true sovereignty belongs to the people, who in turn delegate it to their governments.”

“If governments abuse the authority entrusted to them and citizens have no opportunity to correct such abuses, outside interference is justified,” Soros wrote. “By specifying that sovereignty is based on the people, the international community can penetrate nation-states’ borders to protect the rights of citizens.

“In particular,” he said, “the principle of the people’s sovereignty can help solve two modern challenges: the obstacles to delivering aid effectively to sovereign states, and the obstacles to global collective action dealing with states experiencing internal conflict.”

Could gaining control of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran (CBI) be one of the main reasons that Iran is being targeted by Western and Israeli powers? As tensions are building up for an unthinkable war with Iran, it is worth exploring Iran’s banking system compared to its U.S., British and Israeli counterparts.

Some researchers are pointing out that Iran is one of only three countries left in the world whose central bank is not under Rothschild control. Before 9-11 there were reportedly seven: Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Cuba, North Korea and Iran. By 2003, however, Afghanistan and Iraq were swallowed up by the Rothschild octopus, and by 2011 Sudan and Libya were also gone. In Libya, a Rothschild bank was established in Benghazi while the country was still at war.

Islam forbids the charging of usury, the practice of charging excessive, unreasonably high, and often illegal interest rates on loans,and that is a major problem for the Rothschild banking system. Until a few hundred years ago usury was also forbidden in the Christian world and was even punishable by death. It was considered exploitation and enslavement.

Since the Rothschilds took over the Bank of England they have been expanding their banking control over all the countries of the world. Their method has been to get a country’s corrupt politicians to accept massive loans, which they can never repay, and thus go into debt to the Rothschild banking powers. If a leader refuses to accept the loan, he is oftentimes either ousted or assassinated. And if that fails, invasions can follow, and a Rothschild usury-based bank is established.

The Rothschilds exert powerful influence over the world’s major news agencies. By repetition, the masses are duped into believing horror stories about evil villains. The Rothschilds control the Bank of England, the Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, the IMF, the World Bank and the Bank of International Settlements. Also they own most of the gold in the world as well as the London Gold Exchange, which sets the price of gold every day. It is said the family owns over half the wealth of the planet—estimated by Credit Suisse to be $231 trillion—and is controlled by Evelyn Rothschild, the current head of the family.

Objective researchers contend that Iran is not being demonized because they are a nuclear threat, just as the Taliban, Iraq’s Saddam Hussein and Libya’s Muammar Qadaffi were not a threat.

What then is the real reason? Is it the trillions to be made in oil profits, or the trillions in war profits? Is it to bankrupt the U.S. economy, or is it to start World War III? Is it to destroy Israel’s enemies, or to destroy the Iranian central bank so that no one is left to defy Rothschild’s money racket?

It might be any one of those reasons or, worse—it might be all of them.

My guess is that the papers targeted had little or nothing to do with the attack on the embassy. They covered what the diplomats in that embassy were doing.

Facilitating trade agreements?

Probably not.

Running arms to anti-Syrnian forces (like ISIS)?

Far more likely.

In Libya, the goal was to arm and empower every thug and lunatic that had a grievance with the government of what was then the country in Africa with the highest standard of living.

Libya (and now Syria) are in total chaos.

The Islamic militant group ISIS, formerly known as Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and recently rebranded as the so called Islamic State, is the stuff of nightmares. They are ruthless, fanatical, killers, on a mission, and that mission is to wipe out anyone and everyone, from any religion or belief system and to impose Shari'ah law. The mass executions, beheadings and even crucifixions that they are committing as they work towards this goal are flaunted like badges of pride, video taped and uploaded for the whole world to see. This is the new face of evil.

This story makes more sense if we start in the middle, so we'll begin with the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
The Libyan revolution was Obama's first major foreign intervention. It was portrayed as an extension of the Arab Spring, and NATO involvement was framed in humanitarian terms.
 
The fact that the CIA was actively working to help the Libyan rebels topple Gaddafi was no secret, nor were the airstrikes that Obama ordered against the Libyan government. 

However, little was said about the identity or the ideological leanings of these Libyan rebels. Not surprising, considering the fact that the leader of the Libyan rebels later admitted that his fighters included Al-Qaeda linked jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq.
 
These jihadist militants from Iraq were part of what national security analysts commonly referred to as Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Remember Al-Qaeda in Iraq was ISIS before it was rebranded.
 
With the assistance of U.S. and NATO intelligence and air support, the Libyan rebels captured Gaddafi and summarily executed him in the street, all the while enthusiastically chanting "Allah Akbar". For many of those who had bought the official line about how these rebels were freedom fighters aiming to establish a liberal democracy in Libya, this was the beginning of the end of their illusions.

However in the years following the coup, the country descended into chaos, with extremism and violence running rampant. Libya is now widely regarded as failed state (of course those who were naive enough to buy into the propaganda leading up to the war get defensive when this is said).
 
Now after Gaddafi was overthrown, the Libyan armories were looted, and massive quantities of weapons were sent by the Libyan rebels to Syria. The weapons, which included anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles were smuggled into Syria through Turkey, a NATO ally. The times of London reported on the arrival of the shipment on September 14th, 2012. 

(Secondary confirmation in this NYT article) This was just three days after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed by the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi. Chris Stevens had served as the U.S. government's liaison to the Libyan rebels since April of 2011.
 
While a great deal media attention has focused on the fact that the State Department did not provide adequate security at the consulate, and was slow to send assistance when the attack started, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh released an article in April of 2014 which exposed a classified agreement between the CIA, Turkey and the Syrian rebels to create what was referred to as a "rat line". The "rat line" was covert network used to channel weapons and ammunition from Libya, through southern turkey and across the Syrian border. Funding was provided by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
 
With Stevens dead any direct U.S. involvement in that arms shipment was buried, and Washington would continue to claim that they had not sent heavy weaponry into Syria.
 
It was at this time that jihadist fighters from Libya began flooding into Syria as well. And not just low level militants. Many were experienced commanders who had fought in multiple theaters.
 
The U.S. and its allies were now fully focused on taking down Assad's government in Syria. As in Libya this regime change was to be framed in terms of human rights, and now overt support began to supplement the backdoor channels. The growing jihadist presence was swept under the rug and covered up.
 
However as the rebels gained strength, the reports of war crimes and atrocities that they were committing began to create a bit of a public relations problem for Washington. It then became standard policy to insist that U.S. support was only being given to what they referred to as "moderate" rebel forces.
 
This distinction, however, had no basis in reality.

Oil and Humanitarian War

Portraying American intervention in Iraq as a purely humanitarian effort, president Obama is following the same script he read in March 2011 for Libya, when he justified American intervention as an effort to prevent a civilian massacre in Benghazi. In 2011 he addressed the American nation and said the US was acting militarily, without “boots on the ground”, as a response to “brutal repression and a looming humanitarian crisis.”

Obama was much too polite to mention oil at the time, and again today when it concerns Iraq. Libya in 2011 was the world’s sixteenth-largest world producer and was supplying about 19.5% of all European oil imports at the time, but since 2012 the oil production of Libya is much lower and very erratic.

Toppling the regime of Muammar Qaddafi was seen by Obama's advisors and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as easier than toppling Saddam Hussein of Iraq. But as in Iraq in 2003, US strategists claimed that they would open a gateway to more and further oil supplies from Libya.

Iraq today supplies almost exactly twice as much oil to world importers as Libya did in 2011 - but no longer does. Depending on he state of sectarian fighting in Libya, oil exports by Libya can be practically zero. Now that Obama has moved “on and up” to Iraq he has seriously raised the stakes. Taking Iraq out of the world oil export “supply loop” would almost certainly cause enough supply shortage that oil prices would “bounce” out of their current downward trend below the “magic three-digit” price in US dollars per barrel, of $100.

Is this the real US strategy?

When Libya fell apart and descended into chaos, and its oil production plunged from 2012, this did nothing to bounce oil prices upwards. This was because of ultra-basic reasons of supply and demand – world oil markets were more than amply supplied and the loss of Libya had no impact. Doubling the stakes in Iraq, however, can achieve the goal of a $150-per-barrel “sticker price”, if very high-priced oil, which will be very bad for the global economy, is the real goal.

 

Libya Times Two or Times Five?

ISIS to date has captured around $1.25 billion worth of American supplied military equipment according to Turkish media including 'Daily Sabah', most spectacularly in June when the IA-Iraqi Army threw off their uniforms and ran on the approach of ISIS to Mosul. ISIS was far fewer in numbers (below 10,000) and far less equipped than the IA around Mosul at that time but this is certainly not the case today.

Although ISIS has a probably low number of captured Middle Eastern versions of US M1 Abrams tanks, built in Egypt, it has larger numbers of Russian T-55s and T-72s captured in Syria, and at least 350 – 1500  US Bradleys, Humvees and other armored cars, a few military helicopters, some Manpads anti-aircraft missiles, at least 50 - 100 field howitzers, multiple rocket launchers and large numbers of anti-tank RPGs. It also has very large stocks of ammunition and other military supplies including night fighting equipment. ISIS also probably obtained a large part of the estimated $425 million of deposits held in Mosul banks when it took the city in June, and may be able to use this to buy weapons.

No reliable estimate exists of actual field numbers of ISIS fighters today, but they are growing. Controlling the Mosul and Haditha dams supplying Mosul and a string of cities to Baghdad in the south, and numerous electric power plants and water-sewage infrastructures it can paralyze Iraq when it wants. Under a worst case scenario, ISIS kamikaze “scorched earth tactics” can also enable it to paralyze oil production, refining and transport infrastructures across a swath of northern Iraq.

Outside the US and inside the Middle East warnings of this threat have multiplied for several months but Obama and his administration “didn't want to know”. We therefore have to ask if his administration wants a run-up of world oil prices as in 2008, which helped create or trigger the 2008 financial crisis which endures today?

Why High Oil Prices

We can list several supposedly-perverse reasons. Both Goldman Sachs and the so-called energy market maker banks including JP Morgan, Barclays and Societe Generale have tirelessly worked to push oil market prices – upward – since the brief crash of oil prices in 2009 when prices fell, for a short while, to about $40 per barrel. The energy market maker banks and the major brokers like Goldman Sachs have abandoned the coal, natural gas and most recently electric power markets, following major regulatory investigations and large penalties on their price-rigging. This has led Deutsche Bank to abandon all energy and commodities market activity. 

The oil market is however still under their control. 

World oil and gas spending on exploration and production, and its financing benefits directly from high oil prices. This spending was running at around $640 billion in 2013 according to estimates from Citigroup, Barclays and Morgan Stanley. Major loans for this activity are directly dependent on oil prices staying high.

Continuously high oil prices are forecast by the International Energy Agency as certain for at least the next 20 years, to 2035.

High oil prices are the cornerstone of the so-called “low carbon strategies” to beat global warming and develop alternate and renewable energy supplies, using state subsidies. High oil prices are also a major support factor for maintaining, or increasing inflation which is judged necessary or vital by central bank chiefs including Janet Yellen and Mario Draghi. High oil prices therefore provide another rationale for “print and forget” quantitative easing.

The near-automatic increase in daily traded oil prices when equity markets rise is another proof of the vital role for high oil prices in financial asset expansion, albeit totally fictitious.

Sabotaging Iraq's oil supply to the world after the “non-performance” of allowing or encouraging Libya to descend into chaos, is therefore logical. Geopolitically however, regional Middle Eastern states facing serious economic difficulties as “blowback” from the G7 Group's enduring economic crisis will be active also in Iraq, not only in humanitarian-designated military action.

The Obama administration may or may not want high oil prices, but its actions to date only lead to that conclusion.
