Security agents of Barack Obama turn Summit of the Americas into sex scandal

By Antonio Carlos Lacerda

Eleven members of the elite police that protect the president of the United States were suspended after being accused of misconduct in a sex scandal case in Cartagena, Colombia, where Barack Obama takes part in the Summit of the Americas. The information is from the U.S. Secret Service itself.

"The members involved were taken to the headquarters of the Secret Service in Washington for interrogation," said the deputy director of force, Paul Morrissey. "These 11 employees were suspended."

"In the last 12 days, 11 members of the Secret Service in Cartagena were accused of misconduct before the president's trip," said Morrissey. "None of them worked with the direct protection of Obama."

The newspaper The Washington Post reported yesterday, citing the president of the American Association of Officers of the Federal Police, that at least one of the secret service agents was involved with prostitutes in Cartagena.

"The nature of the charges, plus a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct resulted in the decision of the Secret Service to remove these people from their mission and replace them with other members of the Secret Service," said Morrissey.

"These acts do not affect the ability of the Secret Service to put in place a comprehensive security plan for the president's visit to Cartagena," assured the deputy director.
