Today on the Golden Circle podcast we examine one of the darkest chapters in Southern history. Specifically, we take a look at the period of early 1865 as United States soldiers marched into South Carolina and looted and then burned many of the Palmetto State’s cities, towns and farms.
We review the number of South Carolinians killed by the US military and the amount of property that was destroyed, comparing the losses to those of World War II. This podcast is based upon an excerpt from Dr Walter Edgar‘s book South Carolina: A History.
