Over the weekend, undercover videos filmed by the anti-abortion group Live Action began popping up on YouTube. The tapes, which were surreptitiously recorded over the last six months, showcase abortion “doctors” in the Washington D.C. area as they casually discuss ending the lives of babies who have managed to survive the abortion process.
The casual way in which these people discuss the murder of living infants is simply horrifying. For anyone who thought Kermit Gosnell was an aberration, these videos serve as a reminder that, unfortunately, he’s much closer to the rule than the exception.
This first video appeared Sunday, and was filmed at Dr. Emily Women’s Health Center on Southern Boulevard in the Bronx. In it a pregnant woman asks what she should do if the baby “comes out” at home before the abortion.
The answer she’s given is “If it comes out, it comes out. Flush it.”
She also asks what will happen if the baby is still “breathing” after the procedure and is told that the it will be placed in a bottle of toxic liquid and “the solution will make it stop.”
This morning, another video appeared. This one was features Washington D.C. “doctor,” Cesare Santangelo. He informs his patient that sometimes, as the cervix dilates, the baby is born alive before the procedure takes place. Don’t worry though; his general inaction would make sure it dies in short order.
“I mean, technically, you know, legally, we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive,” Santangelo says. “But . . . it probably wouldn’t. It’s all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point.”
He even goes so far as to liken his unwillingness to help the baby to a hospital enforcing a DNR (do not resuscitate) order.
These barbaric videos are just the beginning according to Live Action President Lila Rose, who says they are designed to expose “truly gruesome, illegal and inhuman practices” inherent to late-term abortion. She claims that future installments will feature irrefutable proof that these “doctors” are willing to murder newborns in direct violation of the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002.
As usual in these situations, the left is ignoring the content of the videos, instead choosing to focus on the notion that they represent a violation of doctor patient trust and confidentiality.
