Imagine the dishonor given to a dead soldier by placing the flag of the country against which he fought over his grave. Imagine decorating his grave site with the flag of a regime which killed hundreds of thousands of his people, violated countless of the women of his people, burned many of his country’s cities and farms and imposed a hostile, oppressive government upon his land. This is precisely what has happened in Covington, Tennessee.
An SNN reader took the below picture earlier today. She expressed her outrage that the Federal flag – the symbol of the Southern people’s conquest – would be put with the remains of a Southern soldier who risked his life to be free from the United States of America. Such Federal flags were placed by the graves of many of the Confederate soldiers, not just the one pictured.
